American Museum of Natural History

The days of the American Museum of Natural History date back to the troublesome era of eugenics and questionable racial theories. Allegedly one of the Congolese Africans brought to the USA was once ensconced here in a cage with animals. These days such a thing would be unthinkable. The centre was founded in 1868 as a cultural and scientific institution.  There are exhibitions from various cultures across the world as well as natural science displays. It is a rich experience for the people living in New York and tourists.

If you are interested in ecology or dinosaurs then the American Museum of Natural History is the place for you. It is located on the Upper West Side and is accessible through the generous transport networks in the city. One visit is not enough to see everything on offer but you can always stay in some of the plush hotels in the vicinity.  The Blue Whale Model in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life is one of the popular attractions. There are organised tours which aim to make things clearer for visitors.

The tour guides will explain diverse topics including African mammals, geology, fossils and meteorites. You can visit the Rose Center for further details. Some private group tours are also available depending on the bookings. The Origami Holiday Tree will fascinate and entertain the kids.  This is a thematic tree that is displayed on an annual basis between November and January. It reminds the tourists of the festive season that is customarily celebrated around this time of the year.
