The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a major contributor to the cultural life of the people living in New York City. It has cemented its place as one of the most popular attractions in the area. There have been estimates which indicate that about 5 million people visit on an annual basis.  There special exhibits to honour Egyptian Vases as well as Roman Statues. The Tiffany Stained Glass monument offers a unique perspective on the city. You can also get to see rare and priceless Rembrandt paintings. You have the option of going for the full tour or just concentrating on the highlights.

The admission fees for the art centres are reasonable given the importance of the exhibitions. Adults will pay $20 but there is a $5 discount on this figure for seniors. Students get a discount of $10. Children under the age of 12 years that are accompanying a paying adult will enter free of charge. This is a great opportunity to expand the cultural insights of your kids.  There are volunteer guides to help along the way.

The gallery talks in the Metropolitan Museum of Art are a great way to learn more about the pieces on display. Alternatively you might decide to go for the auto guides. The Egyptian Art Collection alone will take you back to 300,000 B.C. The Cloisters and Modern Art section offer a totally different perspective.  There are over 2 million art pieces that are on display. First visit their website to learn more about the collections before you actually visit.
